Photoluminescent Safety Wayguidance Systems

Photoluminescent escape route marking systems can serve the same purposes as escape lighting, i.e. in identifying exit doors, providing a readily identifiable path for safe movement and locating fire-fighting equipment. Photoluminescent escape route marking systems can aid the identification of stairways, level changes, hazards, fire alarm call points, escape routes, clearways (especially in open plan offices and factory/industrial applications), fire fighting equipment and control equipment as well as providing general low level illumination.

New Photoluminescent Technology from JALITE
As a result of over two years' research and development, JALITE PLC launched a range of photoluminescent materials with radically improved performance. JALITE Triple A (JALITE AAA) set a new standard in the area of safety signs and safety wayguidance systems, improving ease of recognition, legibility and durability. Solutions were one of the leading companies to champion AAA and have it as our standard material for safety systems.

JALITE AAA has been optimised using the very latest and unique technology to provide the following key features:

•  Exceptional high brightness in the initial phases of light loss providing incredibly conspicuous signs, notices and way-guidance information in a blackout situation.
•  Greatly extended luminance decay times at brightness levels greatly in excess of PSPA Class A materials - expect 3-4 times the luminance values at equivalent activation.
•  Rapid energy absorption and activation for improved performance over traditional material.
•  Incredibly improved ageing and weathering performance extending external application and expected service life.
•  Major improvements in the materials physical properties including dimensional stability, shrink resistance and adhesion for flexible materials.

Low Location Lighting System
This system is designed to communicate a clear, unambiguous, continuous means of escape message right through to a place of safety. This message incorporates safety wayguidance signs and fire fighting equipment identification and location signs. The system comprises of a high tensile PVC profile that is mechanically fitted to the wall and skirting surfaces, into which photoluminescent material and appropriate signs can be easily clipped into position in order to complete the system.

Self Adhesive Vinyl Tape
Our photoluminescent tapes provide a cost-effective way of identifying obstacles, dangerous locations and escape routes and can be viewed in total darkness to provide highly visible escape route illumination. Our tape is made with their new AAA material that produces three to four times the brightness of a standard Class A material and is charged in a matter of seconds.

Stairnosing
Our Stairnosing has been designed to complement existing emergency systems or could be used in conjunction with a full photoluminescent evacuation route marking system for escape route illumination. There are two types available depending upon the construction of the staircase. The Stairnosing is made in aluminum and therefore and external application is applicable as it will not rust.

Safety Wayguidance Floor Markers
Photoluminescent floor markers are available in packs of 10, and provide additional directional information in support of an existing safety wayguidance system to provide a continuous and easily identified route to safety. Like all JALITE AAA photoluminescent products, our floormarkers are manufactured to an extremely high standard to ensure product integrity for use in safety wayguidance systems. Installation is simple - just peel off the backing paper and stick to a clean, dust free surface.

Paint System
The 310 Paint System has been designed specifically for wayfinding applications. This coating system, used in conjunction with fire safety signs, makes a comprehensive wayfinding system. In areas where corridors are used as escape routes, we recommend the painting of continuous waist level and skirting level strips, each with a minimum width of 100mm. In large open areas that have no corridors, e.g. shopping precincts and airports, two 100mm wide tramlines of one single 200mm guide path should be painted.

The 310 Paint System is a water-based paint designed for use on walls, ceilings, doors and floors. The system is built up from 3 layers; a very white base layer, a photoluminescent layer and a protection layer. All layers are one component, water based, weatherproof and non-flammable and can be used on cement, concrete, plaster, wood and metal after appropriate pre-treatment. 1 paint system will cover approximately 8-10m².
