Responsible Person Training

The purpose of the Responsible Person Training is to provide “sufficient training and knowledge” to those nominated persons to provide them with a suitable level of competence to carry out the role of Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.

The package will provide detailed information on the following:

  • The legal requirement for a Responsible Person
  • Relevant Persons and how they link in with the role
  • Competent Persons and how they link in with the role
  • Main responsibilities including
    • Fire Risk Assessment (using the agreed Basildon District Council Template)
    • General Fire Precautions
      • Reducing the risk of fire and spread of fire (Compartmentation)
      • Managing the Means of Escape
      • Emergency Lighting
      • Fire Fighting and Detection
      • Procedures in the Event of Fire
      • Special and Specific Measures (as appropriate)
    • Maintenance of fire fighting equipment
    • Providing Information for Relevant Persons
    • Staff Training Requirements
    • Fire Safety Policy
    • Record Keeping

The training will last two days and will be provided by a senior consultant with a minimum of the CFPA European Diploma in Fire Prevention and over 10 years experience within fire safety and training.  At the end of the course delegates will complete a written test to demonstrate that they have reached the appropriate level of competence to undertake the role requested of them.
